it's the most wonderful tiiiime of the year

You know it- Red Cup season:

(yup, i have a french press at work)

I have a well documented love of the red cup (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008). Not only does it get blog mention every year, but I had two different people email me today saying they saw red cups and thought of me.

Fear not, I've had my first red cup of the season and it brought me great Joy. In fact, I even tried the egg nog latte for what I think was the first time. I'm a big gingerbread latte fan, but I don't think I had ever delved into the egg nog...my verdict is that it is pretty good, but I think next time I'll go with today's barista recommendation which was an egg nog chai latte. Sounds warm, spicy, and delightful! (although for most of the season, I'll probably stick with my double tall...it just tastes even better in the red cup)

Ok, I love the red cups and the egg nog lattes and the gingerbread lattes (but not so much last year's gingersnap version). But my favorite, favorite is the pumpkin spice latte, so I'm always a little bitter at how early the red cups come out and bump the pumpkin spice latte off the menu board. I was a little dismayed this morning when I saw the Christmas menu. But they didn't have the red cups, so my pumpkin spice latte didn't have to suffer that indignity of belonging to the less popular season.

I had a really good drink involving pumpkin spice the other week- it was a grande two pump pumpkin spice chai tea misto. (it was recommended by the same barista that mentioned the eggnog chai latte)

And as much as I love the red cup, it makes me a little sad that fall is over as it is my favourite season and I think it will probably mean the end of the pumpkin scone. I only had one, but man it was good!

It may be the end of the pumpkin scone....but the begining of the cranberry bliss bar!!! I'd better watch how many of those I have this season...

I'm only sort of around this Christmas. Not really sure of dates yet, but I'll email you.

Love, love, love holiday coffees! I am a huge fan of the eggnog latte and the peppermint mocha. Never tried the gingerbread and the new caramel brule sounds interesting...

I had a caramel brule latte today, a NEW christmas drink. It was pretty good. Not fabulous, but pretty good.

i also had the caramel brule today and it was tasty, but i am not sure what the difference is between that and a caramel machiato. a bit sweet for my usual tastes, but nice for a treat, that is for sure!

lu- my guess is that it is caramel flavoured syrup instead of the vanilla in the macciato. And of course the brule bits. It definitely sounds sweet to me...but I definitely like the idea of the brule bits. maybe i'll ask for them on my regular latte :)
