done?

I think I might be done with the blogging. After reading a post on someone's blog that made me a little uncomfortable about the sharing of information that may not be for the sharing, I worried that I may have done that in the past...and if I haven't, I don't ever want to. (now how is that for a sentence that is too long and probably improperly punctuated)

linked

-I was reading this the other day (link) and felt really sorry for her. (for those who don't want to read the link, an actress in vietnam made a sex tape with her ex-boyfriend. some jerk found it on her ex-boyfriend's laptop and released it. she's now been fired from the show she was on and will likely never work again in vietnam)

-Seriously? Brit's newest album is her best? (link)

-Channing Crowder of the Miami Dolphins doesn't know where London, England is and didn't know they spoke English there. Way to be the stereotype. (link)

-The Amazing Race starts November 2nd. Check out the teams! (link)
(and by 2nd, I mean 4th)

love it!

It is a gorgeous day.
The sun is out, there is a nice breeze, the leaves are colourful...it couldn't get much better.
I am pretty sure there are people that thought I was a complete loon as I was running along the canal, grinning like an idiot. But I just couldn't help myself. It is a perfect day.

jordan called it

So not only is Dumbledore dead (and if you are angry that I've revealed this, go back to 2005 and read the book then...ps, Snape killed him), but he is gay. Let the conspiracy theories of what this fictional character was actually doing with Harry (also fictional) behind the closed and password protected doors of his office begin.

Seriously, I bet those same people who think the books are evil because they promote witchcraft will say something stupid like that...

Anyway, yes, it is before 9am on a Saturday and I'm up and blogging. What else is new? Actually, this is probably a good thing...last weekend I was exhausted and slept pretty late. This must be an indication that I'm feeling better and may return to normal levels of energy.

Have a great weekend!

tired

i'm tired, so i only have point form in me:

-oh flames, how did you blow a 4 goal lead?

-the colours are looking pretty good. maples are good trees...

-i'm guessing there won't be an election...the liberal party just isn't ready for it. (but stranger things have happened, so i guess we'll just have to wait and see)

that's all i've got. hopefully something interesting will happen soon.

wow

I had heard about the shooting of RCMP officer Chris Worden earlier in the week. (story here)
I recognized the last name, and just now found out that yes, he was the brother of someone I know. I don't know her really well, but before she moved to Toronto last year, I hung out with her on quite a few occasions, got to know her a bit and she was really sweet to me.

I can't even imagine what she must be feeling right now. (and she works in provincial politics...so this also happened right at election time when she was probably pretty burned out to begin with)

If you are the praying type, please pray for Cathy and her family. If you are not, send your good vibes or energy or just think thoughts that might help them deal with their pain.

and Chris L...be careful out there. none of us want to know what it is like to be on the receiving end of news like that.

good news

Both Februarys I have spent in Ontario have been missing something: a holiday. The Family Day holiday has been around in Alberta for quite some time. I don't remember how long exactly, but as I'm pretty sure it was a Ralph thing, it was obviously within my lifetime (and I do remember when it didn't exist).

So, imagine my excitement when I read this headline: McGuinty renews promise of extra stat holiday. I knew he was re-elected for a reason.

listed: the update edition

It has been awhile. Here is what has been going on (both in life and in my head):
  • It was a great trip...even though it was short. It was nice to meet our newest family member. I had forgotten how tiny they are. At this point, I can't even imagine having one, much less three...Kirsten and Chris, I hope you are sleeping and staying well.
  • Sunday was one of those absolutely perfect fall days. It had that smell...the sun, a breeze... My very favourite kind of day. (though it was really chilly in the morning. my fingers and ears were pretty darn cold when i went running around 8:30)
  • Although Calgary is what I know and is where family is, it is feeling less and less like "home". I love it there, but how homey does anywhere feel when it involves living out of a suitcase?
  • I got to vote today. I love voting. It makes me happy that for my entire life, I've lived in a place where as long as you are of age (and have ID?), you have the right to vote.
  • I got to see my sister a couple of times in the last week. What a nice change. I hadn't seen her since July.
  • The leaves are changing.
  • My landlord hasn't turned the heat on yet. My feet are freezing. The heat is supposed to be turned on on October 1st (at the latest). This is the third October in a row that that hasn't happened.
  • Wow, this is my third October in Ottawa.
  • It is amazing how certain sensations can completely transport you. As I was sitting at the airport on Tuesday, drinking my cinnamon dolce latte, suddenly it was February 2006. It felt really strange.
  • The second part of the latest Entourage season is finally on DVD. Hooray.
  • I think I'm getting a cold. I blame Jordan. He was sick last week.

yaaay!

Go over and congratulate the Lobbsters.
(and check out the tag on this post)

Now I'm even more excited to go home for Thanksgiving...
